I just heard shouts outside, so I looked out of the window, and in the bus sop was a bloke with his hands around a womans throat.

So I called the police.

By the time my call had finished, he had calmed down a bit and let go of her.

By the time the police car had got here, they had got in a taxi together.

I think they were a couple having an argument...

.... and I've just wasted peoples time.

Damn and blast.

*shrugs* You did the right thing - we did similiar with some kids setting fire to a patch of the local graveyard here, and the kids ran off who had done it.

Hey you wouldn't have been wasting people's time if he was really attacking her - you did the right thing. I am sure the Police would rather it be a false alarm than the real thing.

could easily have gone the other way, plus she may well have got in the taxi despite being in danger (coercion, force, only way to stop him from strangling her etc). welcome to domestic violence 101 - where people do stupid things.

Look, don't worry about it, I was about to do the same but after watching them for a few seconds they calmed down and I thought maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked. A sense of community conern may be rare, but that does not make it wrong.
