Hi again. Sorry for delay in reply - caught a lurgy off someone at work but was determined to make it in so have been zonked in evenings....
The writing community I'm part of is mostly online, but we now have annual meet-ups as well (well, those who can get to the USA attend some meet-ups there as well, but there's only one UK one so far). Just had this year's meet in Brighton a couple of weeks ago, and next year's is in Manchester in July. There's a website somewhere... here (though it's not been updated with next year's info yet).
You're right, there is nothing we can do about the past, other than go "that was then, this is now" etc.
Hope you get rid of illness (sorry, I'm too out of the Sheffield-loop to know anything other than what gets posted online) soon.
