just a quickie (uhuhuhu etc)...
today I mostly been killing goblins. Thaasands of them. At least, thats what it looks like when you set up a 'cheap' elf army and you opponent sets up an 'expensive' goblin army outnumbering you two to one or more.
This is the first ever official 'massacre' I have pulled off, although I came close twice before.
Lessons:
1) chariots really do not do well under fire.
2) mutually supporting pairs, one to draw the charge and one to counter, really works.
3) giants arent that scary when you knock half their wounds off with missiles and have an S6 hero in the front rank.
4) it really is all about combat res.
4b) flank charge.
5) With pretty high elves, the plan is to keep running away until you can implement 4b (since 4b is the only way you are going to win a fight).
6) the best way to defend against magic is to rout or kill the enemy magic users.
which should all have been pretty obvious, I suppose :o).
