Feb. 29th, 2004 11:25 pmSooo, this evening, while having a shower, I was musing about life... and thinking that it is indeed a game, that some people play to have fun, and that others play to win, but since at the end of the day we are all going to die, no-one wins, hence you may as well play for fun. Note that this does not necessarily imply a lack of long term planning.
Then following my shower, I went downstairs, saw half an episode of spaced, and then Panorama about fascism in Zimbabwe.
This led to a reversal of thinking. Obviously, there are serious things in life. It's just that I had managed to forget about them in all that lovely warm water.
A minute after the pogram ended, there was some arsehole wittering about the oscars. This I found slightly obscene. Hey, its bad that people are getting beaten, raped, mutilated, tortured, maimed and killed, but here's some famous women in expensive dresses, so forget about it.
Conclusion: In Zimbabwe, life is a serious business. Here, life is a game*. Don't you feel lucky and happy now?
*mostly, except for the bits where you're driving too fast and kill someone, and similar.
