Phone spam

aumentoulalala, I got an interesting text message the other day:
Someone U know has asked our dating service 2 contact you!
Then, all I have to do is call a number which will apparently charge me £1.50 a minute, and it will tell me who.
Now, let me give this a minutes thought, assuming for a minute there really is someone out there who wants to contact me:
If they have my number, they could have just rung or texted me direct.
So either they do not have my number, or they have decided to go through a third party and charge me a quid fifty for the priviledge.
If the latter, then they can naff off. I don't have a quid fifty to waste on possible pranks, and anyone remotely close to me already knows that.
If on the other hand they do not know my number, then how would these dating people fools be able to contact me for them? I have not as far as I am aware given my number to any dating agencies. I do not believe my number is in any publicly accessible lists next to my name. Hence I would conclude that there is no legal way for someone to contact me via a third party.
Sooo. I go on the net and search for some of the key words... lust dating agency phone, and the third thing on there is a site for people to complain about text spam, which oh look, has a big list of people who've had the same damn thing.
So, they have wasted my time. They could potentially have caused me relationship trouble and stress. They might have brought false hope into my life. They might have taken my money.
Someone, somewhere must know someone that does this kind of thing. If you do, take them, put their hands on a flat solid surface, get a lump hammer, and bash their fingers until they are broken in every bone so that they can never use their hands again.
Seriously. They are doing tiny amounts of damage to hundreds or thousands or millions of people. Take those tiny amounts of damage and add them all up, and I reckon it will come to at least one life wrecked. If you find the people that did this, smash their hands.
