So, here we go, my first entry into my brand spanking new livejournal... and suddenly I cant think of anything to say. D'oh.

Bad news:
We're going to war. For no reason. Our "democratic" country is doing what the majority of people dont seem to want so that some large US oil companies can make a shedload of money - which they will presumably need to hire bent british accountants, and so that george "nutcase" bush can indulge his ego by redrawing a few lines on a map. Mostly by getting his 'property of the USA' stamp out and plonking it everywhere.

an internet test has just given me:

I hope that comes out alright...

internet tests are fallible (see good news point one)

24/7 (a recruiting agency who have given me every job I've ever had) are now fucking around with something else. I was supposed to start monday, then tuesday, now they are going to ring - if they can work out what that boxy thing with the buttons is for, and tell me if I have a job tomorrow. Weirdoes.

Good news:
I'm the goddess of fairies.

Internet tests are fallible (see bad news 2)

random musings: On the topic, what is the difference between a countries military forces, and a terrorist organisation?

the only answer I can see (apart from "better funding") is that a countries military forces in some way represent the country involved, while the terrorists fight for a cause of their own choosing. But each individual soldier fights for a cause of his own choosing - the "defence" of his country... which leaves me wondering what the difference between soldiers and terrorists really is...

further random musings: on the topic, pre-emptive strike:
the idea here is that 'by the time they actually attack us, it will be too late to stop them, therefore we must attack now.'
Now, extend that idea logically. 1) we have no idea where the terrorists are. 2) we have no idea where their bombs, if they have any, are. Therefore in order to make sure they cannot strike we must absolutely destroy any possible location for them, so we must... nuke the whole world.

The doctrine of pre-emptive strike essentially says "we will attack anything we feel inclined to attack, we will take over anything we feel inclined to take over, we will aggressively push our own interests with all the military force we feel inclined to because, hey, might makes right."
In other words, its totally immoral. Its exactly the behaviour we condemned Iraq for in 1990. Its exactly the foreign policy of germany, Japan and Italy in the 30's.

fun huh.

random oxymoron: Gun-owning christian.
