aumentouSo, point one. I have a voucher for money off at my beauticians. I'm unlikely to use it because it doesn't apply to the only treatment I ever have there, so if anyone wants to go to house creations (just down a bit from the Dram Shop, on the other side) and get 20% off in January, shout.
Point two, in a bid to put something in here that isn't me being miserable, I now have
1) Transamerica.
On the bright side, this was a nice story, well and sympathetically told, about a trans woman on a road trip with her son, who didn't know they were related and idealised the father he'd never met.
On the bad side, it was a cis actress (in masculising prosthetics!) playing the trans woman (because there are no trans actresses in the english-speaking world, and none of us are interested in getting into that either), there were a lot of details about it that were just wrong and annoying, and the stereotypes, oh god, the stereotypes. She never wore anything that wasn't pink. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
It could easily have been worse, but it wouldn't have taken very much effort to make it a lot better.
2) Teenage Hooker Became Killing Machine
This is a Korean film about a teenage sex worker who is killed and then turned into a cuborg killing machine. It does exactly what it says on the tin, except that for some reason every scene takes at least five minutes of doing one thing. It's completely cracked and you should only watch it if you're drunk, at which point it becomes funny.
3) Cyborg
This is a film with Van Damme in it, so he does a spinning heel kick at one point. That was probably the best bit. There's not much dialogue, the characters are all unsympathetic and stupid, and the plot makes no sense, but on the bright side there's a lot of 80's rock outfits on the bad guys, and an impressively homoerotic fight scene at the end. Well, I say bright side. Those might not be bright sides for some people. But if you take a drink every time someone either a) throws away a weapon or b) loses a weapon, or c) doesn't pick up a weapon despite it obviously being a good idea, then you'll be utterly hammered by the end, and that final fight scene will be so much more impressive.
