I've remembered why I don't go out in the daytime much. In the daytime, the people you encounter are generally either 1) retired, 2) with children, or 3) children. As a working-age woman without children, I stick out like a sore thumb.

Or 4) ill - the way I hobble around I don't feel like I stick out all that much amongst the pensioners, apart from that they're usually in better shape than me!

There's a lot to be said for habituation too I think.

You'll be fine for the next couple of weeks, it's the Easter holidays so all the female childless teachers like me will be out and about making the most of it!
