Right. My coat is now slightly more than half done. Unfortunately I thought batfink was saturday so I had planned on sewing in a daytime too... not to worry, it will get done.
Ahhh... what have I been doing?
*can't remember*
We did taste wine. The Rioja was a bit brash, the random white was soapy but sweet, the Bordeaux was pleasant and eminently drinkable but made no lasting impression, and the pinot noir was, er, Pinot Noiry. I.E. interesting and good.
Also I have been playing rounders with goths. I think I've got the hang (eventually) of the tactics, and I'm alright at the running. Actually hitting the ball was touch and go, but fortunately Mr Gonzo made up for that and between us we got enough runs to mock a team of goths.
*does that Shakespearean thing with the nose in the direction of Gwengo*
I think I must be tragically unhealthy, because my body is now objecting to the rounders.
Aaanyway, I'd like to now indulge in a rambling metaphor:
You go to a restaurant. The first time, you have the nicest looking things on the menu, taking in the cheesy gnocci (sp?) and a steak with some lovely sauce. The second time you try something different, and so on, with few repeats. After a couple of weeks going every night, you'll get to the point where you've tried absolutely everything that would have appeared nice just from an initial glance several times. You'll end up having stuffed mushrooms as a starter, even though you don't particularly like mushrooms, simply for the variety. You might even end up trying the salmon* - just to see what they can do with a nice sauce.
*if you like fish, just imagine you don't really.
If that made sense to you, then it might explain why my computer currently is playing the Dream Disciples, and was on Rammstein a minute ago. They are the stuffed mushrooms. They are the choice I'm not yet been bored with that is vaguely palatable.
Incidentally, if any members of the band are reading this - no offence meant. You're just a different flavour. I'm not saying you're badly cooked.

My mushrooms today are The Cure, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. You might not think this would be mushrooms, and yet it is! Not bad, either.

PS Should be ending this anonymous nonsense soon, so I thank you for your patience....
PPS Will anyone read this post? Considering that there has already been a new post concerning Batfink? Who knows......
